How ThunderShirt helped Lauren's dog Luna

Written by ADAPTIL Expert, published on April 18, 2023

Luna was really struggling on dog walks so I decided to buy a Thundershirt.

That really improved her walking experience and life as a whole really! My name is Lauren and this is Luna, she is a Yorkie cross chihuahua. She's really affectionate and very special!

We met three years ago and she just got bit so used to being in the house so when we started taking her out she was like "well this is a little bit too much!" She was very noise responsive so any little rustle and she would just sit on the floor and not move and just be shaking really head to toe. I felt bad for her because she needs to experience the world but she's too scared to.

I didn't really want to try any like medication or anything so I tried training activities sort of on the walks and we tried to give a treat sort of just turned her head to the side wasn't interested.

I spoke to my agility trainer Adrian and she's sort of mentioned ThunderShirt! Adrienne is the head trainer at DogAbility, a professional dog training company based in East Hertfordshire. We're a team of four trainers and three dog walkers but we are all qualified and accredited trainers.

We introduced ThunderShirt to Luna to help her get out into the world. They should fit tighter than a coat and wrap the dog up. There was a pretty quick change in how Luna responded to her walks outside. ThunderShirt works for our dogs because it gives them a sense of security and helps them to just feel calmer in the environment.

We've found that Luna is a lot more comfortable out on walks and even with quite loud noises noises that I wouldn't have thought she would have been comfortable with before! She sort of listens to it for a bit and then brushes it away!

She now enjoys the walk a bit more she's got a treat bag and she would actually take treats so it's really having a very beneficial effect for Luna and on her agility and how well they're doing!

She's got a lot of confidence, we've got closer too, taking your dog out is just a nice bonding exercise to just experience the world together!
